JULIE TAYMOR | COLUMBIA PICTURES
OPENING TITLES | VFX | MAIN ON END TITLES
Prologue created the main and end title sequence, as well as five visual effects sequences for Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe. Set to the turbulent counter-culture movement of the 1960s, Prologue’s VFX shots reflect the tumultuous politics affecting people at the time, while also matching the creativity found in the music of The Beatles. Prologue shot second unit as well as utilizing the film’s live principal photography, but also created 2D and 3D animation and VFX shots to bring to life the imagery described in the songs. Strawberry fields become war torn fields of Vietnam, Mr. Kite’s circus comes to life, and Vietnam student protests visualizing the spirit of the song “Helter Skelter.” In the end credits, the cast swims in an acid culture inspired psychedelic miasma.
