ZACK SNYDER | UNIVERSAL PICTURES
MAIN TITLE | END CREDITS
For the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, Zack Snyder wanted the main title sequence to immediately establish the worldwide Chaos surrounding the exploding zombie outbreak, and allow the film to immediately jump into action. Prologue used extensive archival footage of riots, and live action of botched news conferences to set the tone of a world descended into chaos. Violently edited with quick moments of rabid zombies aggressively attacking the camera, along with a typography shot practically that splashing into blood being spattered across the frame. Set to the tune of Johnny Cash’s “When the Man Comes Around,” which describes the end of the world, this title sequence gives the viewer all the information they need about the state of the world.
