Prologue wanted to create a sequence that would evoke the historical nature and tonality of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” which in sunny California was a challenge. Prologue was able to shoot in a Los Angeles National Forest which had recently experienced a brush fire, creating the back drop of the east coast winter that we needed. With the help of expert animal wranglers, a fantastic hair and make-up department, and our CG team, Prologue was able to execute and re-create the eerie horseman by filming our stunt actor and removing his head digitally in post. This thematically trickles into the credits as our type explorations resulted in an animation that chops each credit in half, as if being sliced by the horseman.
